Engineers have a bad reputation for being unable to communicate. The 'nerds' in the corner, the wall flowers at parties. Yet they're also those who determine the world in which we exist. They are the silent creators, who struggle to identify with their own creations.
Our proposal, to reshape engineering, is to create a safe space for discussion. To foster conversations between existing people, professionals and their Institutions that don’t currently have dialogue. We acknowledge that diversity of ideas needs diversity of space to develop these ideas. It's not that engineers are poor at communication, they have just haven't had the space created for them that allows them the opportunity to truly flourish.
A co-design community that is not limited by borders! A cross pollination opportunity to share ideas, and build together. A relaxed, safe environment that lays the foundation for sustainable growth.
Hi All, how is it all going? I hope you are progressing with the final concept note and please do let me know if I can help with anything. Best wishes, Reena
Hi Team!
Great that you want to create an inclusive space for encouraging dialogue within the engineering community.
I had some questions and thoughts around the following:
*Are there existing places for dialogue at the moment?
*What type of space do you envisage? Physical or virtual? How is this a unique space?
*Who should be part of that community?
*How do you feel that you can create/maintain a safe space?
*Why and how does a safe community/discussion space lead to sustainable growth? Does that need steering / moderation in this direction? Who will look after the space and encourage dialogue?
*Who do engineers interact with/would they like to interact with? Perhaps Architects? Is there space to include other professionals, people and institutions or is it solely for the engineering community?
*How would this space be funded?
In terms of communication, if you have any questions or comments then we can continue to talk on this platform or I'm happy to have a video call.
Warm wishes,
Reena
