Organizations are becoming more aware of the importance of participating in sustainable practices. They may have a basic understanding for how their products and projects impact the environment and society; and they may even report those numbers to non-profits like the Carbon Disclosure Project. Unfortunately, the data collection process is often managed in multiple internal and external systems, including excel spreadsheets. These systems do not talk to each other, leading to significant manual effort and data inconsistency. This leads to important data being estimated. Companies can’t reduce their impact based on estimations.
The solution is a comprehensive, web-based, software platform where environmental, social, and governance metrics can be measured and evaluated. The system will measure against the newest standards from S&P, MSCI, and GRESB. The software will highlight areas where further development and alternative measures can and should be implemented.
There are currently many platforms in existence that support collecting ESG related data; however, the majority focus on only one aspect – environmental emissions. They fail to collect information related to the social and governance criteria. They also fail to collect data focused on the full lifecycle of a project; instead, simply looking at only the data required for reporting. Our solution will seek to collect all ESG data related to a project and map both the near-term and long-term impacts to create a full picture.
Hi Guys - your concept is similar in nature to ours as RE022-010 - and may offer some synergy - our proposal is geared towards design engineers to give them access to information on a variety of suitable materials for any given project at the outset and to suggest alternatives that have better ESG credentials. In theory this would allow a complete project to be mapped for its cradle to grave lifecycle impact. We believe funding could come from businesses who would wish to be accredited to our site - Governance would come from the institutions and potentially government legislation - How do you see your funding working and how do you reach out to ensure the site can be seen as inclusive?
Wonderful, pleased they were helpful! Just let me know if you'd like to catch up on a call or whether you would like to discuss anything whilst building the final concept note.
Thanks for the great questions, Reena. Answering these will be helpful in building out our Final Concept.
Hi Team!
I really liked your concept note and understood the value from having one platform that captures all this complex data to help companies to be aware of how they are contributing to environmental emissions, social impact and governance criteria.
I had some questions and thoughts around the following:
*What type of companies are you hoping to use your software?
*You mentioned that many existing platforms focus on one aspect, the environmental emissions. Are there existing companies that just focus on the Social and Governance parts?
*Are there any components of ESG that can’t be assessed with figures (in a quantitative way)? What qualitative aspects could this system also capture?
*What types of data can you foresee collecting to get a full picture?
*Are there any downsides from using the standards from S&P, MSCI, and GRESB?
*What competitors are there (like ESGBook), and what are the differences of your proposal?
In terms of communication, if you have any questions or comments then we can continue to talk on this platform or I'm happy to have a video call.
Warm wishes,
Reena
